Notice to Owners/Drivers of Impounded Vehicles
Before reclaiming a vehicle at the wrecker company lot, you must get a Vehicle Release Form from the Atlanta Police Department (APD) Property Control Unit located at:

This office is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to process vehicle releases.
In order to receive the Vehicle Release Form from the APD Property Control Unit, you are required to present
proof of both your identity and your right to the vehicle as either the owner or the ownerâ€™s representative.
Georgia Code section 40-11-1 defines the owner as â€œthe registered owner, the owner as recorded on the title,
lessor, lessee, security interest holders, and all lienholders as shown on the records of the Department of
Revenue or the records from the vehicle's state of registration."

Vehicles held as evidence or for forfeiture cannot be released until the â€œholdâ€ is removed by the investigative unit.
Towing and Storage fees for Vehicles Impounded by the Atlanta Police Department are as follows:
-Vehicles under 2 tons and less than 6 wheels: $105.00 Tow and $10.00/day after first 24 hours
-Over 2 tons and 6 wheels or more: $145.00 Tow and $15.00 after first 24 hours
-Notification Fee: $40.00
These fees are paid to the contract wrecker service.
